Traditionally Hawaiian Lomi Lomi Massage is performed on a soft mattress on the floor. This class will teach you how to perform the massage on a massage table.
Hawaiian massage, also known as Lomi Lomi or Ka Huna Massage is an ancient form of massage therapy that treats both the mind and the body. The Hawaiians see all aspects of the body as one and believe the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual are all parts of the individual ‘whole’.
The massage works by stimulating the natural flow of energy. The treatment may be slow and relaxing or faster and invigorating, but is generally deep and rhythmical, using the forearms, heel of hands and elbows in long flowing strokes.
Although you will be learning a routine on this course, traditionally there is no set format or routine, the treatment may be slow and relaxing or faster and invigorating, depending on the client’s needs, and everyone will have a different technique.
